Purchasing Manager

Our products are developed from the direct result of extensive trend research and data intelligence. From publications to paid trend resources to fashion trade shows to the runways we are constantly gathering and analyzing data from around the world to make sure we are "on trend" all the time. We need you, the Purchasing Manager, to develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies. The tracking and reporting of key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness is critical. We need you and your team to craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Proactively grow department, vendor and category strategy to strengthen core businesses and launch new categories
  • Drive long term tactics and business strategies from multiple divisions
  • Develop and execute business strategies and enlist cross functional support and partnership
  • Work with multiple departments to include Marketing and design to execute strategies
  • Negotiate all suitable terms relative to the business and cultivate new relationships
  • Evaluate and review orders with the team, lead internal style outs and present strategy to Chief Merchant and cross functional partners
  • Initiate cross-team alliances, focusing on relationship with the planning team and supporting a strong system at all levels of the team
  • Partner with Planning team on open to buy, inventory management, selling trends and markdown projections
  • Manage quarterly strategy by vendor, class and channel
  • Lead merchandising initiatives across departments to drive overall brand positioning and financial metrics
  • Offer feedback, training and direction to help your team achieve objectives and continue consistent development and growth
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong business and financial analysis skills
  • 5+ years progressive procurement experience for a multi-vendor label to include the Retail, DIY and Gift markets
  • Established track record of success with the aptitude to be a driving force for our business
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with the creation of trending product assortments to meet and exceed customer needs
  • Excellent math skills within the retail market
  • Strong fashion sense and trend forecasting abilities
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business and/or combination of education and experience within a fashion related discipline
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Knowledge with a strong working knowledge of Excel to include VLOOKUP
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally when required (Must have a Passport)
  • Proven managerial and leadership abilities

Web Content Manager

Cousin is seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented Content Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with content and catalog management through digital and print media. A keen attention to detail; familiarity with Strunk and White, Roget, and Webster; and a great attitude will be tools for success. Previous experience listing products on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, jet.com and similar eCommerce sites is helpful.

Responsibilities
  • Write customer-facing content for e-commerce sites, print catalogs, e-blasts, and other marketing material
  • Responsible for the set-up of product data on websites including product descriptions, categorization, product attributes, and product copy
  • Maintain the highest standards of quality within all content items on the websites
  • Ensure quality of data entry (product descriptions, images, product qualifiers, product copy, etc.)
  • Partner with photographer to ensure top quality photography is on the sites
  • Execute proper SEO strategy when delivering content
  • Execute flawless site content updates that is timely and relevant to the customer and in support of sales goals
  • Works with sales and merchandising teams to execute all initiatives concerning new products
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the company to complete projects
  • Proofreads and edits content on product packaging, websites, print catalogs, and all other marketing material

Education/Experience Requirements
  • Must have at least 2+ years relevant content management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Merchandising or related field
  • eCommerce experience and strong familiarity with mobile and digital content
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Creative thinking and writing skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and impeccable grammar skills
  • Relevant experience and strong organizational skills required for managing multiple projects in a fast moving, dynamic environment

Graphic Designer with Packaging Background

Cousin Corporation of America is currently seeking a Graphic Artist/Marketing Professional to add to our growing and evolving Marketing Department! The ideal candidate has a great attitude, is extremely creative, works well with deadlines and enjoys handling multiple projects. Must thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment and have strong multi-tasking abilities. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conception and design of new packaging, updating existing packaging and products, creating illustrations for packaging and components, following licensor style guides to create packaging, creation of prototypes by hand and layouts of ads, brochures and planograms.

Essential Job Functions
  • Collaborate with marketing team and external agencies to create content for compelling brand awareness and lead generation campaigns
  • Must have strong understanding of various printing methods and be able to work with complicated packaging and product die lines
  • Work collaboratively to develop a visual story that is best suited for the platform and maximizes desired user reaction and interaction. Fast editor who is receptive to feedback and focused on creating content that aligns with business goals
  • Consistently implement a unified brand voice in all marketing materials
  • Manage large number of varied projects at one time from concept through completion
  • Oversee outside contractors for all translation services including product labeling and marketing content for new packaging, sales materials, or other information as needed
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Art, graphic design, business, communications, marketing or related work experience
  • 3+ years' experience in graphic arts or marketing
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, specifically with video editing, mockups, packaging and presentations
  • 3+ years in professional commercial design, preferably in a marketing department or creative agency
  • Print and digital design capabilities: must know how to work in both media for integrated campaigns
  • Experience with 3D software such as Autodesk
  • Adaptive design eye and skill
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to absorb and apply constructive feedback

Designer / Product Development

Responsibilities
  • Conduct extensive market research to identify emerging trends
  • Interpret trends and how they will translate to the gift market
  • Work with the Creative Lead on development and execution of product designs that achieve overall product strategy and merchandise objectives
  • Understand and uphold design's aesthetic intent
  • Create story boards and presentations
  • Coordinate and leverage internal design capabilities with vendor partners while focusing on speed to market
  • Operate with a working knowledge of the development process and how it relates to product development timelines
  • Send development packages to overseas partners and sample facilities
  • Initiate and keep track of status of material and sample requests and approvals, and alert management of exceptions
  • Responsible for daily communication with overseas vendors
  • Support the review of prototypes to meet product development timeline milestones with a focus on product execution, consistency of details, and target margin
  • Execute, update and maintain necessary product development tools (such as Spec Sheets, Milestone Charts, and New Product Templates)
  • Demonstrate understanding of costing implications as they relate to the product development process and manage development costs, packaging costs, and final costs
  • Communicate with merchandising team on any product related updates or corrections made
  • Build effective relationships with key customers, vendors and internal partners in the Creative, Merchandising, Sales, Marketing and Production departments to promote collaboration and ensure product design requirements are developed, communicated and implemented
Desired Skills
  • Ability to design concepts that are consumer focused to meet the needs of the retail customer
  • Must have a high degree of proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience in working with overseas manufacturers and vendors to develop innovative products is preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong sense of teamwork and ability to multitask
